I love you, yes I do.

[me + dad. shirt I made with the lyrics to a song he sang to me as a kid]

This weekend I helped host a 50th birthday party for my dear old dad. I must say a few words about my dad. He is with out a doubt the strongest human being I know. Not in a my dad can beat up your dad kind of way, but in an endure to the end, give it your all kind of way. We lost my mom when I was just 3 years old, and my brother only 9 months. I have incredible memories of my single dad putting braids in my hair, feeding a jar of baby food to my brother, and the two of us being curled up in his lap on a rocking chair accompanied by lullabies of Simon and Garfunkel. Since that time he has spent every day of his life in effort to fuse together the most seamless new family there has ever been. He's taught me kindness, courage, acceptance and most importantly, love of God. He holds being a father higher than anything else in his life and has always made that evident by his actions. I am truly a better person and a better mother because of his example. We had an amazing time at his celebration with memories we'll never forget!

The charming little song my dad used to sing and the inspiration for my t-shirt.

Oh, Sarah, you got my teary. What a beautiful post. Your dad sounds like such a soldier, a dad anyone would be proud to call theirs. Happy Birthday to him from all of us over at Hopes and Dreams. This reminds me of a little post I wrote about my dad for his birthday, too.

Happy Birthday DeOrr (ok I know I just ruined that birthday sentiment by butchering the spelling of his name!). Looks like it was a great celebration. I love the bond between you & your daddy!
