School Bus Birthday Party part 1:

So my little E baby turned 2, and we had a little party. I'd love to share some of the highlights with you. This little boy loves school buses along with all things transportation. He asks to see the school kids off to school in the big yellow school bus, and consistently points them out during our regular travels. I decided to run with the school bus and school theme while trying to keep it simple.

the dessert table:

For the backdrop I hung our living room rug (it seemed perfect for the theme) from the deck using nylon twine and a real good needle.
For the cookie bunting I used #2 pencils (fitting right?) a little twine, and vinyl strips for the little "flags".

homemade whoopie pies.

Lemon candy sticks.

Thanks to my SIL for the yummy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

the beverages:

the tables:

I wanted something entertaining for the kids (and adults) to do while they were sitting, so I covered the tables with brown craft wrap and had my sister help draw cities with roads to drive cars and buses along.

I left out #2 pencils and colored pencils kept in spray painted mason jars

I wanted to carry over some of the chevron, so I used vinyl strips (tape) to create a chevron pattern on the jars.

the favors:

for each family:  Paper "lunch" sacks filled with treats
for the kiddos: lunch trays complete with a wooden bus and fruits and veggies sweet enough to eat.

We had a great time, and I have more to tell. I've reserved tomorrow for more details and all things about the birthday boy.
