simple and thrifty 1st birthday party decor

Way back in January I put together a sweet and simple little P themed party for my niece who turned one. The party cost around $50 to create which was super awesome and unexpected, so I thought it might be worth a share! Unfortunately, the set up was in a not so well lit basement, so the pictures aren't as telling as I would have hoped. Any tips on shooting in un-ideal artificial lighting settings are welcomed.

 Paper pinwheels.

 Pastel pink cake.

 Powdered doughnuts.

 Little peanut bar.
 Pom Pom garland.
 Plastic bread-bag clip garland.
Poppy hair clips & pillow boxes.
Paper hat topped with a pom pom and stamped with a P.

Some other resources:
Velvet scalloped ribbon used around the cakes found at the scrapbook store
Used the drawer from the desk used in this family photo shoot as a tray
Used this paper pinwheel tutorial
