weekend love: easter weekend

This weekend was busy of course. I feel like I'm still recuperating to be honest. It was so much fun, but really exhausting for a woman in my state. We started out by spending Earth day at the local aquarium. It's so funny for me to see what kind of things interest and stimulate my little almost 2 year old's mind. He usually surprises me and finds interest in the things that are most opposite from the things I would have expected. His favorite aquarium activities including spinning the educational penguin wheel, and climbing through the coral caves. I probably could have taken him to a dirt hill and he would have been just as entertained. That's the funny thing about boys at this age. I'm so interested to see what kind of interests a girl will bring.
Here we are at the sting wray pool seconds before E pulled off his shoe and left it floating with the water creatures. He then proceeded to drench his now sock exposed foot.
Most of our time was spent working on proper behavior such as no climbing, no "hitting" the animals, and avoid squealing at other kids who are sharing the tank space, but there were also some really fun discoveries. I'm finding the only way to learn a lot of important "life lessons" is by braving the sometimes risky public outings and experiencing things first hand. It must be quite difficult for a little boy who has been the center of the universe since his day of birth to find out that he has to share the earth with a whole lot of other people.
We colored a whole lotta eggs. I don't know about you, but we're gonna be eatin egg salad for the entire month of May.

E had his very first official egg hunt, and he was SO ready. Well, actually he wasn't quite sure what to do when the whole thing started. We neglected to do some necessary coaching.
He adores the Easter bunny, which is quite surprising since the genetics from his mother would tell him to be completely terrified of all imaginary holiday characters.

As for Easter Sunday? Boy did this little man look dapper.

We had a really great weekend. I just keep hoping that someone will take all this candy off our hands since I recently picked up 7 lbs last month, and also so that my toddler doesn't end up with a mouth full of cavities. I have to say that I feel like one blessed girl. I'm thankful for a loving husband, my sweet baby boy, a growing baby girl, and all of our extended family who do so much for us. Hope the weekend was wonderful for all of you!
