weekend love: holiday edition

Oh we had such a lovely Christmas. How about you? I have to admit that while I'm typing this, I sit amongst a terribly cluttered living room full of open boxes, toddler toys, and a still present Christmas tree. I just haven't exerted the energy that it would require to clean house after such a weekend. Can't I just take a break till the new year? I actually spent the entire weekend away from all things technical (except for toddler toys requiring batteries.) No internet, no twitter, and no phone. The phone was by default since it was lost in the couch cushions at some point during the Christmas commotion. Can I admit something? I loved it. It's not that I don't love technology, and of course I love to blog, tweet, and text. It's just that, sometimes it's nice not to be a part of that world for a while. To just stop and focus on the somewhat slower world of my little family. I was 100% engaged in the joys of my first "Santa set up" for the little man. The facial expressions, the giggles, and the purity of someone old enough to get excited over gifts, but young enough to remind me of the sweet blessings beyond the gifts. I do have a few highlights to share, and may or may not post again this week. I plan to come back full force after the new year.

My DIY Christmas display this year. (told you I love gift wrap.)
 A few gifts I ended up wrapping very last minute. Nothing a few buttons, felt fabric and lace couldn't take care of.

A Christmas outfit for E.

E wanting to wear these boots and this hat, while riding this bike, all night long.

I love your gift wrapping! I must try the button idea. Do you use super glue?

Love your outfit, but I think I like E's a little bit more than yours =X He's just so adorable!

Merry Christmas! & Happy New Year!

Sarah, I just have to tell you how inspiring your gift wrapping is. I've been trying to work my way through loads of gift wrap and ribbons before buying new. But seeing your packages makes me realize I still have loads of supplies in my scrapbooking and sewing materials. All I need to do is buy some brown kraft paper and I'm good to go for a loooong time. Thanks for sharing!

E is such a cutie in his monster boots. Loved the giftwrap display. This year I just threw some paper over my amazon boxes and called it good. Maybe when we have a little, excited boy to open presents I will make more of an effort and steal some of the cute trimmings you have here.

Also love the brown wrapping paper! Oh what a relief to not have to bother with mounds of themed paper! My family has long used the comic pages from the newspaper, but I don't know how amused my in-laws would be by that :) Thank you for sharing. Also - OH GOODNESS BABIES! Yours is so darling. Those boots are so great that I know my husband would love a pair! lol! And the bike is great too. What a blessed mommy you are!

Gorgeous DIY wrapping! This was the first year where I went above and beyond the standard wrap and bow and I was so proud of my gifts. I think the wrapping should have just as much thought as the gift inside. Thanks for sharing!

Love the gift wrap and the cute outfits. I've never told anyone but I have the honor of being a professional gift wrapper - haha! Can you believe there was such a thing? Anyway, long story but I am. You can see I aimed high!

I love the gift wrapping--I honestly am jealous of all your consignment store finds. I don't have consignment stores that good in my area :)

Oh wow, I LOVE your gift wrapping! Totally brilliant.

I would love, love, love to use this concept for birthday wrapping when I only have to focus on one present. {cause I'm sort of lazy like that...}
