My Sunshine

Sunshine: My Version from Sarah Larsen on Vimeo.

One of my favorite things about motherhood is being able to rock my baby boy and sing him a lullaby. There's just something so peaceful and strong bonding about singing to my babe. After my mom died and my dad became a single dad, he sang lullabies to my brother and I every night. "You Are My Sunshine" has some of the fondest memories for me, and I thought I would pass that along to my E in hopes for some of the same fondness.

Thanks for instilling a beautiful tradition dad.

P.S. Don't mind my messy hair.

I sing the same song to my kids all the time, and heard it growing up as well. It's a sweet song.

i have always sung to my kids too. not with the same voice quality perhaps. in our house traditional books like "goodnight moon" are set to song. and each of them has a tune that i sing the letters of their name too. they still know theirs and ask me to sing them sometimes.

beautiful!

I love those moments I get to steal with my little one. I like singing that same song to my son but I replace sunshine with his name. You are my Brody my only Brody...

Cute. I sang/sing that song to Isaak and it has become 'our song'. I have changed the words from 'when skies are grey' to 'all the time' because now when he hears it I want him to know that he does make me happy all the time! :) I love it!

I absolutely love that part about being a mama! I used to sing that song to my little ones... until the third one came along and bedtime consists of yelling, begging, threatening, etc. :) Your voice is incredible... I always sound a little bit like dying cats. But I do it anyway, because I think it's important. Your little one is very lucky!

Some of the best days of my life I can't take all of the credit I was honoring your mother. Your mother sang to you all of the time and I loved to listen to her just as i love to listen to you.

Thanks for sharing such a sweet moment. It brought a tear to my eye. I used to sing that song to my boys when they were babies, and now they're growing up so quickly.

You have a beautiful voice!
