Budget DIY Wedding Help

Last week I got an email from the sweetest reader. This is what she wrote:

I'm getting married next month and am trying to come up with some creative ways to decorate.  We are having a cocktail reception, so I'm looking for decor mainly for food station tables, the cake table, the candy bar, etc.  Our primary colour is turquoise, with accents of silver.   So far I have purchased a couple turquoise taffeta table runners (2) and several straw-like round placemats (in turquoise). I'm writing to you in hopes of any (decor) suggestions you might have.  I was so impressed with what you did for E's birthday - wow! - I've never seen anything like it.  It was so creative, clever, beautiful, and the best part, on a budget.  I'm on a tight budget for the wedding, and want to keep decor costs down.  I'm willing to shop at the thrift stores, paint stuff myself, create, etc.

I ADORE weddings and love DIY weddings even more. I was happy to help her come up with a few ideas. Here are the things I sent her:

I've seen vintage looking silver trays almost every time I have gone thrifting. These would look beautiful with almost anything displayed on them. You could even hang a grouping of them.

Monograms are always classy incorporated into the wedding decor. You could find and paint wooden letters. I also favor the ampersand sign.

How adorable would Hershey Kisses be?                                                   forgive me I can't find the source!

I love seeing colored soda at weddings.  DIY printable Soda labels via EatDrinkChic

I can't wait to see what you do A!

P.S. I'm looking for people to send me pictures of bow tutorials (how to sew a bow, how to tie a perfect bow, gift wrap bow tutorials, etc.) or wearing bow fashions. Shoot me an email if you would be interested in participating! sarah[dot]forthelove[at]gmail.com

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog - How exciting, preparing for a wedding! I had so much fun planning for mine, i almost think that was the best part! You should check out the sign I made for my friend's candy bar - she's going with a vintage/earthy wedding in lavender and gray/silver, and I hooked her up with a cute vintage looking sign. It's in the blog post "Love is Sweet", from this week!

I Look forward to reading more!
