My very first:

Blog award. Serene bestowed this pleasure upon me. She's a great girl. Along with this award, I'm asked to mention 10 things that make me happy. Lets get the obvious out of the way. My core happiness comes from my family, my husband, and my baby boy. My driving force for happiness has and always will be driven by the light of Christ and the knowledge of the Restored Gospel. I'd like to focus on some of the little happy spots in my life:

10. Good hair. I'm a stylist. I delight in seeing crisp and well groomed locks on a male or female. Especially if the angles have been cut just right as to highlight and enhance the personality of the individual. I can appreciate straight clean lines, or abstract creativity. I love hair that showcases a particular ethnicity, or boldly states a need for expression from the inside out. I love having the ability to make people feel better about themselves and I love engaging in the art of hair design.        More about hair here.

9. Fresh produce. As much as I love my sweets, there's nothing like eating food that was grown and produced by Mother Earth. There really isn't a fruit I don't like, and I even enjoy most vegetables. Except for onions. And mushrooms.    More about this here.

8. Social outings. I've always been a social butterfly. In fact, according to my recollection, this is the label I was given by the majority of my elementary school teachers when trying to come up with a nice way to say I preferred socializing over studying. Here is a short list of outings I enjoy: birthday parties, family parties, holiday parties, play dates, baby showers, bridal showers, girl's night out, barbecues, group dates, dinner parties. Let's just say I've never attended a party I didn't like. Now if I could only get my husband to comply. {I have a tendency to chat long and linger longer.} I just really enjoy relationships. I'm a people person.

7. Creativity. I love to challenge my mind. To make something out of nothing. To attempt to build something beautiful. To work with my hands. To think deep and beyond the surface. See my projects here.

 6. Nature. I have always appreciated the intricacies, mysteries, and incredible beauty of the earth. I absolutely love to be outdoors and spend time viewing God's creations. There is something about each season that I enjoy. My baby E has been the same way since he was born. When he would fuss, taking him outside would always calm him down. He loves to be outside and that makes me happy. Oh and I love to hike.

5. Holidays. See number 3. Also I love family, traditions, and food.

4. Humor. Imagine that, humor makes me happy. What would I do without being able to have a good laugh at least once a day? I absolutely love laughing till I cry. I grew up in a teasing, joking, laughing, outspoken kind of family. I loved it and still do. Oh and there's nothing better than hearing the sound of your baby boy let out a good giggle. It makes you feel like you're doing something right.   I enjoy things like like this, this, and this

3. Summer. I know I just got through saying that I enjoy something about each season, but my heart belongs to Summer. I have to admit that I am an all around happier person when it's warm and light. Some of my very best childhood memories take place in the summertime. I love longer days, summer fashion, swimming, barbecues, (again, see number 3.)

2.Babies and children. Oh how many days I spent as a youngster playing house and carrying around dolls. I am a kid at heart. I love to be around children and I truly wish I could be more like them. I wish life was as simple as it is seen through a child's eyes. I wish I could channel the tenderness that is a child's heart.

“Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thought.” - E. Y. Harburg

1. Music. Music has always been a big part of my life. I have a strong appreciation for good music and the way it can positively manipulate your emotions. Also, I love to sing.

and one extra...because it's my blog, so my rules. Blogging. To some it may sound silly, but blogging gets me through a heck of a lot. I cherish the friends I've met through blogging, and whether anyone reads it or not, writing and expressing myself is just plain enjoyable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those that indulge my beloved hobby.

Now it's time for me to pass this little award along to some other bloggity bloggers. I've decided to tell you about 5 gem blogs that are doin' there thing in there own little corner of the blog world.

  • The Lindsay Blog: She's a really talented artist that I personally think will go far. Also, I thoroughly enjoy her refreshing uniqueness.
  • Blah Blah Blog: I guess I'm biased because miss Katelin shares my Danish blood, but she's just so great. She has an amazingly fun and hilarious personality accompanied by a sincere sweetness, and it all shines through on her blog. She finds the funniest stuff. I tune in often so I can stay hip. It is through her blog I learned about coconut M&Ms. Oh and she sings Opera. I'm still hoping she'll post herself sometime.
  • Life Done Properly: She's got some great ideas, and decorating talent. She also has great hair and a talent for real writing. She's also a friend.
  • Catch a Fire: Lets just say, she's good at everything.
  • The Campbell Clan: Meet my new blogging friend Claire. She lives in Scotland. She's extraordinarily hilarious and has simply adorable girls. She's a real writing talent and her posts never fail to bring delightful humor into everyday life. Seriously, I can hear her voice and her accent in my head when I read what she writes. She's that good.
I wish I could write a paragraph about every blogging friend and every neat blog I read. I'm thinking about starting a list.
