Spring Flats: How to wear em?

I've had flats on my mind lately. As a short person, I've been advised not to wear flats because they make me look...as short as I really am? Is there anything wrong with being comfortable and revealing your actual height? I like having some cute options on hand just in case I need to run somewhere quick, or I'm just plain sick of wearing heels. These are some of the flats I've held on to over the last couple years.

 Orange cinched flats I purchased at H&M for $8
{Isn't it time we got one of those here in Utah??} Rumored here.
Old Navy purple decorative flats: $4 thrift find
Me Too silver flats with a decorative bow $10 thrift purchase

 These silver flats are SO old and worn out. I have worn them out because they go with eveything. I need some new metalic choices.
I'd settle for these:

I don't think I've ever really known the best way to make flats look great. I found this article very helpful:

Look for Flats with Style

Since flats usually aren't as dynamic as heels, look for flats in fashionable colors, lush materials and rich textures to help jazz up your look without having to resort to higher heels.

Accents like buckles, straps, gems or bows can also add a lot of interest to a pair of flats, although it's best not to go overboard with embellishments. When it comes to flats, a chic look is typically better than a quirky one, and it's a lot more versatile as well.

Dress Up Simple Flats for an Ultra-Feminine Look

To make up for the simple styling of many flats, consider prettying up your outfit with ultra-feminine wrap tops, flared sleeves and layered shirts to help convey a head to toe "ballerina" look.

Flats and Skirts

Having no heel on your shoes can make your legs appear shorter. If wearing flats with skirts, shoot for a hemline that is above the knee, to regain a look of length to your leg. Wearing flats with longer skirts can give you a dowdy appearance.

The Right Pants for The Shoes

Capri pants and flats are a match made in heaven, but if you're wearing long pants, make sure they aren't too long. Having the hem of your jeans or slacks drag the floor, not only looks sloppy, it's also a great way to ruin a pair of pants.

Unless you're ultra-thin, you should avoid wearing really tight pants or skinny jeans with flats, as this can sometimes look frumpy and call attention to parts of your body you'd rather not emphasize. {dang it!}
Instead, consider pairing flared or wide-legged pants with with pointed-toe flats for an ultra-stylish look.

I don't know about you, but I've got Spring Fever. If I had it my way I'd get myself some turqoise: {vintage of course}
Some yellow:

Some cap toes:
And all sorts of feminine florals!

  For now, I'll settle for the ones I picked up at the thrift store for $5.

I don't own a single pair of flats. My mom always wore them and I thought how not cute they were. But NOW they have so many dang cute ones that I really want some!! I think its time to go shoe hunting.

I LOVE flats--in fact they are all I wear since I married someone who is only one inch taller than me :)

Oh how I wish I could pull off flats. Heels are much more flattering for my caboose, and my back already hates me for always wearing them.
These are some adorable options. Maybe I'll give them another try.
Oh and I totally concur on the H&M thing.
