My Superbowl Project

It's no secret that I don't know anything about football. I'm going to admit right now that I didn't even know who was playing until the day before. We always get together with the family for an annual Super Sunday party which includes a smorgasbord of the kind of food that could put you into cardiac arrest. My mother-in-law really makes it fun because she offers prizes for different situations or happenings during the game. I didn't walk away with a new understanding for what a completion is or what the role of the umpire would be, (I thought there were only umpires in baseball?)but I did walk away with some cute hair accessories. If there's anyone out there like me who doesn't know the first thing about football, there happens to be a glossary here. Any single ladies out there could totally impress dates.

Since the big game is usually kind of a bore, this year I came prepared. I brought some crafting supplies and made myself a little Valentine's day decor. Because I have a tendancy to switch up my home decor frequently, I had a plain black pillow just asking to fulfill a purpose. I cut out a heart from red felt and proceeded to stitch it to the pillow. I used some thick black thread and an embroidery needle. To start, I tied a knot in the thread and laid the red heart in the center of the pillow. I hid the knot under the heart and began to stitch around the edge of the heart. I really wasn't concerned about making the stiches straight or even because I wanted it to have some character.

Here's the finished project.

Super Bowl Highlights:

  • Casual friday commercial

  • Drew Brees holding his baby son after the game

  • Undercover Boss {After the game. Did anybody see that?}

  • Homemade Oreo shake

  • Gold's Gym commercial

Oh and what was with Jay Leno doing a commercial for David Letterman!?

Saw a little of Undercover Boss as I was feeding the baby...kinda liked it, too. Cute pillow!

PS You need to come see what I did with your vinyl, I am pretty proud of myself. :)

The pillow is so adorable!

I too don't understand football. I did watch for the commercials and drank wine. Apparently you're not supposed to drink wine during the super bowl!

My heart melted when Drew Brees was holding his son. I did watch Undercover Boss, very original, love it!

I thought the Oprah, Leno, Letterman commercial was funny!

that's a great idea to craft during the game ... I read a book while husband watched. We need to be more social with a party or something!
