Decorating my Shoes

I bought these

at the thrift store (DI) for $4. I really wasn't crazy about the bow, but I was in the market for some black shoes with a small wedge heel. They were just right, and I figured I could do something about the bow.

I was inspired by these
So I proceeded to make this

by using the zipper from a ragged track suit, and cutting it into 2 inch strips. I sewed the strips into loops and sewed the loops together in a pleasing arrangement. Then that got me thinking. What about this
or thisI made the rosettes by cutting and bunching a less than fashionable black shirt I used to wear, and the bow was made from silk like fabric I had laying around. Which do you like best? Maybe I'll make them interchangeable. Now that's an idea!

Amazing! Super cute! I love the interchangeableness -- bow is cute for Sunday, zipper is cute for jeans

Oh, those shoes are adorable!! Very cute! All three are great, but I think the first is my favorite.

Hi Sarah, I just saw your comment on my blog. Thanks so much for stopping by!! I love your blog! We like many of the same things :)
If you don't mind, can I ask what blogspot template you are using? I've been trying to get pictures and links on both my right and left columns and can't seem to figure it out. Thanks again for visiting, I am going to sign up for your blog. By the way, your shoes turned out super cute!!

Oh my goodness, you are too talented! :) Visiting from The SAHM Project to thank you for your comment.

I think interchangeable is definitely the way to go and I'm so surprised that the fashion industry hasn't thought of interchangeable shoe decor yet! You might be onto something :)

Love those! I seriously need to whip up some toe bling for my flats...that is if I ever get to wear them with all the snow we keep getting. I have seen the zipper flower on Martha but have yet to try it. Pretty Easy?

I love that you found my blog randomly but wanted to comment anyway. I have a Steve Madden shoe in gold very similar to the zipper rendition.... at thrift store price for you... so that is my vote.

Sarah. You are amazing.
These are so cute.
I'm still in awe of the little treasures you find at DI, but you turn them into a masterpiece!

not that everyone else didn't already tel you... but you are amazingly talented and creative. I get ideas of things to try, but I'm to intimidated to do it.

Interchangable would be cool! But if you had to pick one, go for the zipper flower!

One more thing. I see that you love the DI provo- I too am a fan of the DI- american fork always seems to have better stuff to me though. But the secret to thrift store shopping is the Catholic Thrift in Heber City utah. It is not nearly as trafficed as the DI's in Utah county and most the donations come from upper end Park City fold. come my way and give it a try.

What a great idea! I almost just bought some zipper rose shoes for 30 bucks last week. I'll have to go scour DI. Thanks for stopping my blog the other day! (oh, and I vote interchangeable.)

Cute cute cute!!! These are my kind of "flats" -- ones with like a 1 inch wedge.
